Associate Underwriter

Summary

The Associate Underwriter will assist the Underwriting Unit as necessary to successfully achieve the overall team goals. This will include analyzing and evaluating risk as well as working closely with external customers such as brokers and policyholders as applicable. The Associate Underwriter will report directly to the Manager, Underwriting Operations.

Duties

*Review and approve applications in accordance with company guidelines, procedures and delegated authority *Works in conjunction with Underwriter, Supervisor and Manager to determine appropriate pricing based on analysis of profitability, marketplace conditions, and regulatory requirements. *Rates and prepares quotes and answers questions from brokers, policyholders or other external or internal contacts as necessary. *Provides support to Underwriter as necessary. *Issues policies and follows up for completion of quote subjectivities. *Prescreening of renewal business and makes recommendations for non-renewal. *Ability to work independently and think creatively. *Other duties as assigned.

Experience

*Bachelor’s Degree, or a minimum of 2 years business experience. *Ability to manage, prioritize and perform multiple tasks and projects while maintaining workload. *Above average interpersonal, communication and time management skills. *Ability to be an active team member. *Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel. *Participate in Insurance Continuing Education classes. *Potential for overnight travel up to 10%
